Description

Title: Imperial-Style Beetle Brooch with Red Guilloché Enamel and Precious Stones

Description:

This remarkable beetle brooch is one of only 18 pieces created over a lifetime by a master jeweler in Riga. Three examples from this rare series are now part of our collection.

Inspired by the elegant jewelry traditions of the final years of the Russian Empire, the brooch combines 14K gold, silver, and rich red guilloché enamel. Its carefully crafted wings reveal a delicate engraved pattern beneath the translucent enamel, while the body is decorated with 28 natural diamonds, three natural peridots, and a deep purple natural amethyst. A cultured pearl adds a graceful finishing touch.

The brooch weighs 22.88 grams and was examined by the Assay Office of Latvia. Its unusual design reflects a period when jeweled insects became fashionable among collectors and admirers of fine decorative arts.

Behind these 18 beetles lies a story that has remained hidden for many years. Soon, we will reveal the mystery.
